Definition
A right triangle is a triangle with one angle.
- How to read: “The one ninety-degree angle.”
- Meaning: Exactly one right angle; the side opposite it is the hypotenuse (longest side).
Why It Matters
The right triangle is the ‘Anchor’ of geometry. Its fixed 90-degree reference point makes Trigonometry possible, enabling us to solve for any side or angle with minimal data. It is the fundamental primitive of spatial logic.
Core Concepts
- The side opposite the right angle is the hypotenuse; the other two sides are legs. Right triangles support the basic trig ratios.
- This concept is part of the chapter-by-chapter synthesis from Trigonometry For Dummies.
- It should be merged with existing math notes if a stronger canonical note already exists.
