Reference Angle Signs

Definition

Reference angle signs combine first-quadrant exact values with quadrant sign rules.

Why It Matters

This is the “safety check” for trigonometry. If you get the sign wrong, your result is 100% incorrect, even if the number is right. It prevents “geographic errors” in math—ensuring that your results respect the territory (quadrant) in which the rotation actually occurs.

Core Concepts

  • Use ASTC: all functions positive in QI, sine in QII, tangent in QIII, and cosine in QIV.
  • Concept is part of the chapter-by-chapter synthesis.
