Reciprocal Trig Graphs

Definition

Reciprocal trig graphs are graphs of secant and cosecant built from cosine and sine.

Why It Matters

These graphs show where oscillating functions “blow up” toward infinity. In electronics and acoustics, these asymptotes represent points of “infinite resistance” or resonance that can destroy a circuit or a speaker if not accounted for in the design. They map the “no-go zones” of physical systems that oscillate.

Core Concepts

  • Zeros of sine/cosine become asymptotes; maxima and minima become reciprocal graph vertices.
  • Part of chapter-by-chapter synthesis.
