Definition

Information Theory is the mathematical study of the quantification, storage, and communication of information. In the context of engineering and AI, it focuses on the fundamental limits of data transmission and processing.

Why It Matters

Everything in the modern world—from your Wi-Fi connection to the genetic code in your cells—is governed by the laws of information theory. It defines the hard physical limits of what can be known, communicated, and stored.
